Taster Sessions

From June to September on the first Sunday of every month between 1pm and 3pm we have a taster session at the club. Our first taster session of 2026 will be on Sunday 7th June.  This is an open afternoon to give people the chance to come and “have a go” at bowling.

We have all of the equipment that you need to play and our club members will be there to show you how to play the game and answer any questions that you may have about the club or the sport in general. To protect the green we just ask that you please wear flat shoes or trainers (not sandals).

Our Sunday sessions are all about fun. Come along, bring the family, and have a great afternoon trying something new. Even if you just want to watch, then come along to have a chat and a cuppa !

Social Bowling Days.

All members can practice or play before and after home games.

Below are the rules in regard to the green fees when it comes to bowling on these social days.

On the first Sunday of the month people who haven’t played at the club before are welcome to come along  and enjoy their first session for free.

Subsequent sessions or sessions for social members are charged at £2.00 which includes a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit. Additional drinks cost 50p a cup.

If a full member is playing on these Sundays then the usual rules apply; namely if that member is due to play in a game during the week (Sun-Sat), there is no charge but If that member isn’t playing in a game that week then the £2.00 green fees should be paid.

These rules also apply to the Social Bowling sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you are a social member, and you play on Tuesday and Thursday, then green fees are £2.00 per session. If you’re a full member and you’ve played or are playing for the club that week (Sun-Sat) then you will only need to pay for the cuppa you have.

Any under 18’s who play at any of the social bowling sessions do so free of charge, though there should be an appropriate adult in attendance with them.

Should you need further information or have any questions, please contact the Chair via email.

Andy Morton Memorial Trophy Bank Holiday Monday 25th August – 11:00am Start

The Andy Morton Memorial Trophy is just a Northcliffe Crown Green Bowing Club competition, held in memory of Andy Morton.

Please be there for 10:30am to allow the draw to take place for an 11:00am start.

Pairs are drawn out of a hat, on the day, so no one knows who they are partnering.  Every player will get at least two games.

So we need to know who’s coming, please put your name down on the Andy Morton Memorial Trophy list in the clubhouse.

Lunch is a Jacobs Join, if you can contribute food, it doesn’t matter whether it’s homemade, or bought, all donations will be gratefully received.

Please add what you are bringing alongside your name on the list.

Bowls’ Big Weekend
Saturday 24th May 2025
1:00pm until 4:00pm

What is Bowls’ Big Weekend?

Bowls’ Big Weekend is an annual national event, designed to introduce more people to the sport of bowls. The event takes place over May bank holiday weekend (23-26 May), during which bowls clubs across the country open their doors to the public, offering free taster sessions, to get more people playing our sport. It’s a fun, inclusive event that welcomes people of all ages and abilities to try the sport in a friendly, supportive environment. The purpose is to promote bowls as a modern, accessible activity that brings communities together while encouraging people to become members of local clubs.

Northcliffe Park Crown Green Bowling Club will be opening our doors from 1pm until 4pm, for anyone to come along and have a go at Crown Green Bowls.

If you have never bowled before, it doesn’t matter, just come along. We have sets of bowls for you to use.  You don’t even need to know the rules, there will be members of the club on hand to guide you though the whole of the game of bowls .
