Another Grand Day Out

Following our success at the 11 Ends Competition last year. Val, Barry, Ian, and Richard entered this year.

Richard enjoyed his 3 games and put up a fight, but his fight was a little late and unfortunately, this was the end of his battle.
Ian, Val, and Barry each won their round-robin group and went through to the quarter-finals.
Barry & Val made it through to the semis, both playing someone from Yeadon Park. Val did her best but was beaten by a much younger James Greenwood, who had also beaten Ian.

Barry won his semi-final match & faced James Greenwood in the final.

The final turned out to be a very close game, finishing 7-6 to Barry. Congratulations to Barry on winning this competition, 2 years running.

Coaching Afternoon

Eight of us signed up for an afternoon of coaching with Garrie Bolton from Wharfemeadows Bowling Club, arrange by our Secretary, Jude.  The session was split into 1 hour with 4 people in each session.  Each session started off with Garrie looking at our delivery and offered suggestions on how to improve releasing the bowl and how to reach the jack on those long ends.  The session continued to focused on delivery and setting a mark to follow when the jack has been bowled.  The final part of the session was used to improve bowling consistent lengths.

A great afternoon enjoyed by all those taking part and watching on.
